Day 11-16

Day 11-16: Success!

I've been pretty busy this past week, so I have been slacking on updating the blog. But don't worry, I am still sticking to my diet, and I have even lost another 4 lbs! That means that I have now lost a total of 10 lbs!!!! yayyy!!!!

I've been making plans to move across the country next year, to live in Washington state! I hope to lose as much weight as my body will allow me by that time, so that it will be a complete new start for me!

I am really excited!

As for ediets, the food is still really good! Haven't found much to complain about! I am starting to receive foods that I've already had in the past couple of weeks, so I may not take pictures very often.

Day 10

Day 10: Success!
Breakfast:
Cranberry Orange Muffin: Really good. One of my favorites! Will order again.

Lunch:
Grilled Chicken breast with Herb Potatoes and Broccoli: Really good, although I would have preferred the broccoli in smaller chunks. I will order again.

Dinner:
Turkey Meatballs and Whole Wheat Spaghetti with Marinara Sauce: Pretty good for spaghetti. I don't normally like to eat spaghetti, but I'll order it again.

Snack:Terra Exotic Vegetable Chips Original: Second time I've had these! These are actually really good!

Day 9

Day 9: Success!
Breakfast:Blueberry Muffin: As always, the muffins are great. Will order again.

Lunch:
Goulash and Mixed Vegetables: Love the Goulash, even though my mother makes the best Goulash ever, and this didn't taste anything like hers... I still liked it anyway! I had mixed feelings about the veggies. Will order again.

Dinner:
Barbecued Chicken with Candied Sweet Potatoes and Sicilian Blend Vegetables: The chicken was really good. I don't really like sweet potatoes, and the veggies were okay, but I really didn't like the green beans.... I'd order it again, but only if I don't have any better choices.

Snack:
Nikki's Meyer Lemon Shortbread Cookies: I was actually supposed to get Nikki's Butterfly cookies, but they sent me these instead. I am glad I got the chance to try something different though, since I had the butterfly cookies last week. However, I think I'd prefer the butterfly cookies over the lemon cookies.

Day 7 and 8 (off of ediets)

Day 7: Oopsie...
(on my own)

I actually did pretty good. I counted my calories, and ended up fine up until the last part of the day. I ended up having to work 9 hours at my part-time job, instead of the 6 I planned for when bringing food to work. (You know how it goes, someone calls in, you have to stay longer... blah blah blah, I actually don't mind) So I think the large space between Lunch and Dinner caused me to feel unsatisfied by the end of the day, and I ended up eating a piece of pizza that my parents had leftover from their dinner. JUST ONE PIECE, so it's not going to set me back... but I still shouldn't have had it. Oh well, no harm done.

Day 8: Success
(on my own)

I was supposed to get my ediets food on Tuesday, but since Monday was a Labor Day, I didn't get it until Wednesday (today). So I had to do a 3rd day in a row on my own. Which I guess is okay, next week I'll just have one day on my own, so that I can keep my same delivery day. No harm done... but it's so much easier being on ediets food rather than trying to do it on my own!

I am so happy, because ediets accidentally sent me 7 days worth of snacks. And since each are different I was really happy that I could throw out that dreaded dark chocolate bar. I still don't understand why we can't choose our own snacks! I just can't eat dark chocolate. Then I had the biscotti tonight for my snack, since I don't really have a good snack to eat on my days off.

Day 6

Day 6: Success.... kinda

Since I am doing the 5 day plan on the ediets Fresh Meal Delivery program, today was my first day off. I was somewhat prepared for the first day on my own, but then I ended up being out of town, and on the road most of the day... I was stuck trying to make good choices at gas stations and fast food places... not an easy task on your first day on your own!

I had one serving of bran cereal for breakfast, I had some cashews from the gas station, I had subway for lunch, I made it home in time for a healthy choice tv dinner. Then I had a serving of fruit for a snack.

All in all, not bad choices. Nothing that will set me back. My only oops was that I accidently counted the calories on the cashews wrong. I made a mistake thinking that one bag of cashews was only one serving, when actually it was 4. yikes! But dang, the bag was tiny! It LOOKED like only 1 serving.

BUT, not bad. I'll get better. :)

Day 5

Breakfast:
Banana Muffin: All the muffins have been good. This is probably my least favorite of the muffins so far, but still good! I'll order again

Lunch:
Oven Roasted Chicken and Black Bean Salad: WHOA! This was really spicy! I took one bite and just couldn't anymore. I hate spicy food. I figured it would be, It's not something I would have ordered in the first place, and I am not really sure how I missed changing this. Note: I threw this out, and had a Lean Cuisine tv dinner that still had low enough calories, so I didn't have to cheat. I will never order again!

Dinner:
Lemon Herb Chicken with Wild Rice and Broccoli: Really good! Although the chicken had a lot of pepper, so I had to use salt to tame the taste some. Still really good though! I will order again

Snack:
Nonni's Biscotti: The only only other time I have ever had a biscotti was when I tried Nutrisystem. Let me tell you, it had caused me to never ever want a biscotti ever again! It was so hard I couldn't eat it. So when I received this one from ediets, I thought for sure I was going to hate it. The first thing I did when I got it, was pinch it to see how hard it was. I was happy to find that it broke apart really easily (that's why it is broken in the picture). So I tried it and was really surprised at how soft and chewy it was. So much like a cookie. Really... I had no idea that biscotti's were meant to be GOOD.

DAY FIVE: Success!

Saturday, September 5, 2009

Day 4

Breakfast:
Apple Cinnamon Muffin: As always, the muffins are delicious! It even had little chunks of apple baked in. I'd order it again.

Lunch:
Baked Boneless Chicken and Cheesy Potato casserole: I really liked this! It almost tastes like a ham and cheese potato casserole that my mom makes... except with chicken instead of ham. Probably the best lunch I've had so far, so I will definitely order it again!

Dinner:
Curried Beef and Vegetables with Broccoli and Red Potatoes: A little spicy, but at least it was mild. Normally I don't eat anything even mildly spicy, but I actually really like it! I will order again!

Snack:
Terra Chips Original: Vegetable chips? The thought made me a little nervous, but surprisingly they taste a lot like potato chips... salty and crunchy! (Although I am sure it probably isn't actually salt) Can't wait to have these again!!!
Day 4: Success!!!

Day 3

Breakfast;
Whole Wheat Bagel Half and Light Cream Cheese: I decided to have this two days in a row on my first week. A lot of the breakfast choices on ediets meal delivery plan contain eggs, and I can't stand to eat eggs! So it's a good thing I really liked the bagels! I will continue to have this every week.

Lunch;
Tuna Casserole: Once it was too late for me to change my meal choices, I was convinced I was probably going to regret this choice. I like tuna, but I am very picky when it comes to eating tuna. Also, I hate peas. BUT, It actually wasn't bad, I'd eat it if I had to, but fortunately I don't have to, so... I might order it again, but probably wont.

Dinner;
Blackened Chicken with New Potatoes, Moroccan Spiced Carrots and Shallots: I really love the chicken! The potatoes tasted homemade. I normally hate carrots, and was intimidated by the amount of carrots in this dish. but they have some sort of spice on them that actually made them kinda good! I will definitely order this again.

Snack;
Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Bar: Well, as dark chocolate goes, I am sure this is wonderful. HOWEVER, I hate hate HATE dark chocolate! blah blah blech! ick! This is why I wish that we could choose our own snacks. I would trade this out for something else in a heartbeat!
I also had my requred servings of fruit and dairy through out the day. I didn't take a picture of these because I assume you know what they look like!

DAY THREE: Success! (Meaning, I followed the diet to a T, and didn't cheat at all!)

Day 1 and 2

I thought I would start by going through what I had on day 1 and on day 2, and saying what I thought of the food.

DAY ONE

Breakfast;
Pumpkin Muffin: Lets just say, I was extremely nervous to start this meal delivery program, because I've tried other things in the past that were horrible, so I was actually shocked at how GOOD this muffin was! It tasted just like a moist homemade muffin! So it eased my mind, and made it easier to continue with the diet. I will definitely have it again!

Lunch;
Penne Pasta and Cheese with Carrots: I actually expected this to be cheesier than it was, as it looked really cheesy in the picture on the website. But it was still good. I'd have it again.

Dinner;
BBQ Chicken breast with roasted red potatoes and sweet corn: Really good! I don't normally eat anything that's more spicy than pepperoni, and the red potatoes were a little spicy, but not bad! I will definitely have it again.

Snack;
Vic's Pocorn: I was nervous about this too... I don't normally like popcorn without butter, but this was actually pretty good! I'd say I would definitely have it again, but it's not like I have a choice. Ediets doesn't let you choose your snacks.

DAY TWO

Breakfast;
Whole Wheat Bagel Half and Light Cream Cheese: I already knew that I would like this. It's your basic everyday Whole Wheat Bagel, with a generous amount of Philly Cream cheese. I found that I only really need half of the cream cheese provided. And it's extra good toasted! Will definitely order again!

Lunch;
Pork Marsala with White Rice and Corn: I could barely finish this. I didn't like the sauce on the pork. and I am not much of a fan of white rice. I can usually eat white rice if I mix it with the rest of my meal, but like it didn't work in this case, because I didn't like the sauce. I had a hard time eating this. Although I know this is a matter of preference, because I read on the forums over at ediets that a lot of people actually do like this. I however don't... OH, and it said on the website that it came with corn, but it didn't! I won't order this again.

Dinner;
Chicken Flatbread Pizza: I can't imagine microwaving this, although it can be. I think that is why most people over at the forums don't like this number. But I instead baked it in the oven, which I really recommend! I thought it was really yummy! Not a lot of bread, but it's loaded with veggies. It was probably about the site of a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut, but with more toppings I think. I would definitely order again.

Snack;
Nikki's Cinnamon Sugar Butterfly Cookie: 2 little sugar cookies. Soft and really good! If I was able to choose my snacks, I would choose to have this twice a week!

Since I am just starting ediets, I am having to experiment with different meals. If I don't like something, I will keep track of it, and be sure not to order it again! So far I am liking the food, and am satisfied with the portions. Hopefully I will continue to like it!

Introduction

Hello, I'm Elli! I'll be 25 in a month, and currently weigh 259 lbs.

It's a complete shock when you've come to the realization that you've gained 100 lbs in less than 10 years! I am not exactly sure how it happened. Well, I know how it happened, I'm just shocked that I LET it happen. I never really considered myself to be "fat"... I always knew I was heavy, but I just didn't realize how I actually looked to other people.

I remember one day, I was in the grocery store with my mother, and she pointed out that she kept looking at this other girl while we were in the store, and thinking that she was me from behind. I took one look at this girl, who, I guess was my size, but it just shocked me to actually have an accurate view of how others see me.

I've already tried a few different diets, and have failed, but I think this time I have the motivation I need to reach my weight loss goals.

Currently, I am doing the Fresh Meal Delivery plan from ediets.com

I've already completed two days of it, and I think that it is something that I can do! I saw someone else with a diet blog, and thought it was a great idea!!! I really think that by tracking my progress with my own blog, it will help me stay motivated!

I plan on trying to update everyday with what I have eaten, and include pictures of the meals, and what I thought of them... that way I can keep track of what meals I like, and what I don't like... as well as give someone insight on this diet if they are considering it.

I'll take my before pictures now, but I don't think I'll be comfortable with showing my before picture until I've at least made a little progress! So I'll do those later!

I'll try to post my progress every Monday.

Wish me luck!
